Fun with the 'green screen' at the Hallowe'en Howl! Congratulations to Mia, Leo and Timurcan who won prizes for the best costumes!
For part of our World Around Us topic, we carried out a litter survey in the school grounds. Thankfully we found very little!
We enjoyed doing lots of different activities during Maths Week. We visited the Fun Maths Roadshow where we were challenged by puzzles and problem solving activities. Congratulations to winners Farida and Sophie who solved 20 problems in the hour! Learning about perimeter, all pupils joined hands to 'give Seaview a hug!' We all worked together to build a 3D model of Seaview in a 3D buildings competition for our topic 'School is Cool!'
We had a fantastic time when we went to Tesco, Antrim Road to 'explore the store.' We investigated fruit and veg from different countries, went into their enormous fridge and freezer, packaged our own brioche rolls and sampled lots of healthy treats at break time. We can't wait to go back to learn about food for fuel!
In our World Around Us topic, School's Cool, we have been learning about materials and their properties. We carried out an experiment to investigate if materials such as card, tin foil, cling film and tissue paper were transparent or opaque. First we taped materials inside shoe boxes that had small holes cut at either end. Then we shone a torch through one hole and looked through the other. We found that some materials let a little light through so were not transparent or opaque. Our challenge was to find out the scientific word for these materials. The reward? 5 Dojo points!
We love using Nelson interactive activities to help us learn to do joined writing. Sometimes the joins seem difficult but we have found that the more you practise, the better you get! Look at some of our fantastic writing!
We enjoyed lots of practical activities to help us understand symmetry. Sometimes the activity looked easy but we discovered that copying a pattern and making a reflection of a pattern are not the same!
We loved celebrating European Day of Languages! We dressed up, had a special lunch menu, listened to Spanish music in the dinner hall and had fun learning to count in French. We danced and sang to French songs on the primary languages website too.
In class we are learning to tell the time. You can help us at home by practising the half and quarter hour times. If we are confident with these, add in 5 minute times!
